Leak localization in harsh hydrogen production conditions
In a hydrogen production environment near Bergen, H2 Production, part of Norwegian CCB Energy, evaluated whether acoustic inspection could help detect small leaks from a safer distance.
During testing, wind speeds reached up to 20 m/s (≈72 km/h) in storm conditions. Even then, the team detected the ultrasonic signature of a very small leak and confirmed the location afterward using a traditional gas detector.
That helped confirm not only that a leak was present, but where to inspect next.
It really worked. We found a very small leak. For the Sorama CAM iV64Ex to work under such conditions was a very good selling point.
